A brief introduction

Marigolds, Originating from Mexico and America, marigolds have been around for centuries and have been a favorite in the realm of beauty and for the useful part of the early history of medicine. They are a traditional flower, known for their strong, clear coloring and in Mexican culture are a common flower arrangement at the celebration of The Day of the Dead.

Marigolds symbolize passion, creativity, and warmth. In many cultures, they are also associated with celebrations, protection, and remembrance, especially in events like Dia de los Muertos in Mexico, where they are used to honor loved ones. 


Plant care

Soil

Marigolds thrive in well-draining, moderately fertile soil with between 6.0 to 7.0 pH. . While they can tolerate poorer soils, enriching the soil with compost will enhance their growth and flowering.

Light

Marigold wants access to full sunlight and half shadow. Ideal temperature: 15-22°C for growth, but can tolerate higher

Watering

Marigolds prefer consistent moisture, especially when young. Once established, they are somewhat drought-tolerant but still benefit from regular watering during dry spells. Avoid overhead watering to minimize the risk of mildew.

Care

Plant in spring, spacing 8-10 inches apart. Moderate watering and let the soil dry between waterings. You can use soil enriched with compost and fertilize with light feeding every few weeks.
