Golden Pothos

Family (Latin):

The Effortless Elegance of Indoor Greenery

A brief introduction

Golden Pothos, scientifically known as *Epipremnum aureum*, is one of the most popular and easy-to-care-for houseplants, beloved for its heart-shaped, vibrant green leaves adorned with streaks of golden yellow. Native to the Solomon Islands, this versatile and resilient plant is a favorite among both novice and experienced gardeners. Whether cascading from a hanging basket, climbing a trellis, or simply potted on a shelf, Golden Pothos adds a lush, tropical vibe to any indoor space while purifying the air.

Popular varieties

Marble Queen ~ A stunning variety with cream and green marbled leaves, offering a lighter, more variegated appearance.

Neon Pothos ~ Known for its bright, lime-green leaves, this variety brings a pop of vibrant color to any space.

Jade Pothos ~ Features deep green leaves with minimal variegation, ideal for adding a rich, classic green to your indoor jungle.

Plant care

Golden Pothos is incredibly adaptable, thriving in a range of light conditions from low light to bright, indirect light. While it can survive in low light, its variegation is more pronounced in brighter settings. The plant prefers well-draining soil and should be watered when the top inch of soil feels dry. Golden Pothos is drought-tolerant, so it's better to err on the side of underwatering rather than overwatering, which can lead to root rot.

This plant is a fast grower and benefits from occasional pruning to maintain its shape and encourage bushier growth. Fertilize your Golden Pothos every 2-3 months during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, liquid fertilizer to support its vigorous growth. Regularly wipe down the leaves to keep them dust-free and to allow for optimal light absorption.
