~ The Symbolic Meanings of Crocuses ~

Crocuses are often associated with cheerfulness, youth, hope, and new beginnings.

Plant care

Soil

Crocuses thrive in well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. Sandy or gritty soils work best, as they prevent the corms from sitting in waterlogged conditions.

Light

Full sun to partial shade is ideal for Crocuses. They bloom beautifully in bright sunlight, making them a great choice for sunny spots in gardens or lawns.

Watering

Crocuses need minimal watering once established. Water during dry spells, especially when they are actively growing, but avoid overwatering to prevent rot.

Care

Plant Crocus corms in early autumn for spring bloomers and late summer for autumn varieties. Place them 3-4 inches deep and spaced a few inches apart. After blooming, allow the foliage to die back naturally, as this feeds the corm for next year's growth.

Saffron is from a flower. The saffron crocus, Crocus sativus, has been cultivated and traded for over 3500 years and is an important spice herb used in the food industry. Saffron is the costliest spice. At least 100,000–150,000 crocuses are required for extracting 1 kg of dried saffron and their picking and cleaning is done manually.
